HSNM GENERAL GRANT GUIDELINES
HSNM General Grants help individuals, organizations, and institutions implement projects that increase the knowledge of New Mexico history, disseminate information on the history of New Mexico and the Southwest, and encourage the preservation of historic objects and properties. They
support a wide variety of projects, such as equipment acquisition, educational programming, exhibits, site improvements, digitization and indexing of historic records, preservation projects, and research-related travel. Maximum grant award is $1,000, no match required. Applicants will be
notified of their proposal status by August 1. Projects (or those portions of larger projects for which grant support was sought) should be completed by August 1 of the following year.
REQUIREMENTS
- Applicant must be a paid-up HSNM member in good standing;
- Grantees must credit HSNM support in their work;
- Upon project completion, the grantee will provide a final report of expenditures and
accomplishments; - Grantees should present information on completed projects as part of a session at the annual HSNM conference;
- Articles based on completed projects are not required but are welcomed and may be
considered for publication in the Historical Society’s La Crónica de Nuevo México.

Current board members of HSNM are not eligible for individual grants. Applicants will be notified
of the status of their proposal by August 1. Grant payments are made upon return of a signed grant
agreement to HSNM.
